Christmas party bookings soar across city venues

More than 5,000 people will attend Christmas parties at National Museums Liverpool - the most successful festive season ever for party bookings.

Bookings are up 300% on last year with party events taking place at Merseyside Maritime Museum, Museum of Liverpool and World Museum. More than 25 party nights are taking place at the venues during the festive season.

The most popular venue is the Maritime Dining Rooms which is located on the top floor of Merseyside Maritime Museum. The £49-a-head all-inclusive events are fully booked.

More than 85% of customers who attended Christmas party events at the museums last year are returning this year.
Festive food facts:

During the festive period National Museums Liverpool Head Chef Ben Sheeran and his team will cook:

• 15,000 roast potatoes
• 18,000 Brussels sprouts
• 5,000 Christmas puddings
• 5,000 Yorkshire puddings

Melanie Lewis, Director of Commercial Operations at National Museums Liverpool, said: “Our museums are fast becoming the venue of choice for evening events and we are thrilled to be welcoming so many guests over the festive period.

“This will be our most successful month on record for event bookings. Our venues are unique. Where else can you enjoy great food and great service in the unrivalled atmosphere and setting of a national museum?

“At a time of severe funding constraints this growth in event bookings is particularly welcome. Profits from these kind of events go straight back into supporting our museums.”

One very happy customer wrote on TripAdvisor this week: “We went to the Merseyside Maritime Museum for our Christmas night out and it was fantastic. Drinks on arrival in reception and then lift to the function room where tables were laid out beautifully. The staff were amazing, lovely carvery and vegetarian option was gorgeous. When they put the lights down it was lovely and the view of the city was perfect. Everyone had a great night and we will be going again for sure. So different and lovely surroundings…thank you so much, I loved it and well done to all the staff involved.”

As well as the evening events, more than 500 Christmas lunches will be served at the Maritime Dining Rooms and Lady Lever Art Gallery. To book your festive lunch go to:  www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/christmas|

Once the festive rush is over, National Museums Liverpool’s events team will turn attention to spring 2014. A Grand National Celebration package at the Maritime Dining Rooms is sure to leave the rest of the field behind. Race-goers will enjoy a champagne breakfast, transfers to and from Aintree then evening entertainment/food and drink on their return to the Dining Rooms.
