Thank you for voting for us in the DSC Social Change Awards

National Museums Liverpool has been nominated for a DSC Social Change Award for the Engaging Refugees and Asylum Seekers project. These awards are given to those working to achieve a positive change in society.

We have been shortlisted to the final three in the Public Body Award category. This award is given to the public body that has worked most effectively with the community to achieve shared social change objectives. It recognises the challenges these organisations have overcome to improve the quality of people's lives and help them work together for the benefit of the community.

Enganging Refugees and Asylum Seekers

The ethos of the Engaging Refugees and Asylum Seekers project in Liverpool is to develop activities based on the needs of refugees and asylum seekers and the wider communities. Through activities such as school and learning partnerships, volunteering, family learning and staff training, the project has helped to bridge the gap between British and refugee communities.

The project has worked with over 8,600 people; increasing confidence, self esteem, volunteering and social opportunities as well as encouraging integration between communities.

Award ceremony announcement

A public vote was held to decide the winner of the award. The voting has now closed and the winner will be announced during an awards ceremony on 26 November. Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who voted for the Engaging Refugees and Asylum Seekers project. Keep an eye on the DSC Social Change Awards web page for updates.
