A tea towl decorated with the shipping flag code for dry.
The use of flags to send messages at sea has a long history. By 1855 it had evolved into the International Code of Signals, an elegant system of flag signs created for the use of all nations that is still occasionally employed today.
Designer Nick Munro has teamed up with the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) to create a range of homewares based on the shipping flag code and the Shipping Forecast's unique language.
Nick Munro will donate a minimum of £15,000 from the sale of these products in support of the RNLI.
