Something Wild...at the Walker Art Gallery enables primary schools and other group settings to introduce children to the idea of visiting a gallery and looking at paintings, sculptures and other works of art.

It has been produced with the aim of supporting the development of children's creativity through a high quality and imaginative resource, which is accesible to the 5 to 9 year old age group.

Visiting the gallery and exploring Something Wild...

Something Wild... aims to encourage groups and families to visit the Walker Art Gallery and explore the collections featured in the book first hand. However, the book has been created as a stand alone resource so that if you are not able to visit the gallery you can still have fun exploring our collections and get creative with the accompanying art activity cards.

In order to support your visit we have created an activity sack which you can reserve for your group to use when making your booking. Activity sacks contain:

  • a copy of the book and a map to help you find the paintings and objects that it showcases
  • a pig hand puppet, feathered bird mask, plastic beetle, magnifying glass and other items that will enable you to have fun exploring the story and interacting with the art works on display.

To make a booking please call our learning staff on 0151 478 4178 or complete an enquiry form.
