Wonders of the Solar System

3-2-1-blast off!  Come on an adventure around our Solar System without leaving the comfort of your chair in our fantastic family show. This show just got bigger and better, with new up to date information on the solar system. Find out why Pluto has now been declassified as a planet and why we get changes of the seasons.

Magnificent Desolation

'Magnificent desolation' was the description uttered by Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin when he stepped onto the moon. This brand new planetarium show is all about the Moon and the Apollo missions that went there. Magnificent Desolation is being launched in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing.   Free entry.

Hands on demonstration suitable for all the family. Find out about the history and traditions of the Samurai and see a volunteer get dressed up in replica armour.

Places are free but numbers are limited. Please collect your free ticket in advance from the Information Desk.

Musicians' gallery: Ken Johnson - musical activities

Intriguing, participatory and delightful – suitable for adults if accompanied by young people. Ken was for many years a violinist in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and in his spare time welded cow bells and developed a quirky repertoire of funny musical activities to involve audiences and introduce good but unfamiliar music. This session will include both virtuoso playing and lots for visitors to join in. Free event.
