Wild Planet

18 July - 28 October 2012

'Wild Planet' is a photographic exhibition showcasing stunning images from the natural world that highlight the dazzling beauty and diversity of our planet.

The exhibition will feature 80 images chosen by BBC personality and zoologist Chris Packham from previous years of 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year'.

Highlights include:

  • 'Human Encounter' by Suzi Eszterhas (USA). A 10-month-old mountain gorilla plays on a bamboo stem in this endearing study taken as its mother collected nettles in the Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.
  • 'Sheltering Frog' by Edwin Giesbers (Netherlands). Giesbers used a slow shutter speed to capture this charming study in heavy rain sweeping across a forest near his home.
  • 'Rajan Snorkelling' by Jeff Yonover (USA). This unforgettable image shows an Asian elephant taking its daily dip with a handler, huge head under water using its trunk as a snorkel.
  • 'Meerkat Moment' by Shem Compion (South Africa). A pup and its siblings seen with an adult babysitter in South Africa's Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, just as a hornet flies by.
