Admiral Lord Nelson

Horatio Nelson is recognised as Britain's greatest naval hero. He was one of Napoleon's main opponents during the Napoleonic Wars that followed the French Revolution. Here, Nelson wears the uniform of a Rear Admiral. The Star of the Order of the Bath and a Naval Gold Medal hang on a ribbon. His right sleeve is empty as his arm was amputated in 1797 after Nelson was wounded during the British attack on the Spanish port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
