Adze

An adze blade in pale grey stone, probably sandstone-greywacke. It has an asymmetrical outline and irregular quadrangular cross-section, so that it is slightly twisted along its length. The butt is reduced at the front and sides. The butt surface is bruised, the blade surface ground. The bevel is convex with no chin line. The cutting edge is curved to form a tang. The front and back profiles are convex. The cutting edge is sharp and badly chipped. There are the remains of labels on front and back.
