Solid cast copper alloy statuette of an Apis bull with horns and disc, walking. No base and modern pegs in the feet. The Apis bull was regarded as the ‘ba’ (soul) of the god Ptah of Memphis and thus as a manifestation of his power. Described by Professor Percy Newberry as being of a "very fine technique" and dating to the Ptolemaic period. Condition note (1999): Small areas of light corrosion.
