Information

Bill Harry believed that creative people should reflect their own experiences rather than copy someone else's. With little interest from national newspapers in his articles about the emerging Liverpool music scene, Bill and his wife Virginia, created Mersey Beat newspaper. A ‘teenage bible’ for local youth. Mersey Beat was innovative, introducing many ideas that were later adopted by the national music press. The photographs in Mersey Beat, including those by Peter Kaye Photography, captured live performances and local landmarks instead of the traditional studio shots of mainstream press publications.
