Carving

Small rectangular plaque in bone made as one side of a rectangular box, highly polished on back surface and carved with fine shallow relief, also polished, on outer surface. Within a flat, narrow border, a schematically rendered scene of a goddess wearing conical hat covered with a veil that is held by large discs, and with a mantle wrapped round her neck and streaming over her shoulder; the mantle overflows onto the border above. She faces to right, her right arm around the neck of a doe, her left hand raised and grasping the doe’s ear tightly.
