Information
An almost complete skeleton of a cat consisting of 195 identified bones with 65 unidentified bone fragmentss. The skeleton Includes 15 claws, 21 left front paw bones, 19 right front paw bones, 19 left back paw bones, 19 right back paw bones, 3 scapula bones, 16 ribs and 29 rib fragments, 6 sternum bones, 6 pelvis and sacrum bones, 19 tail bones, 3 right front leg bones, 3 left front leg bones, 4 right back leg bones, 4 left back leg bones, 27 vertebra & 5 fragments of vertebra, 1 skull and 31 fragments of skull bones, and 2 mandible bones.
The cat appears to have been carefully buried and was discovered curled up within the garden of what was number 8 Albert Parade.
This object was excavated by Museum of Liverpool Archaeology and community volunteers during the Piermaster's Green Community Dig. The project investigated the homes of Dock Masters, Pier Masters and their families. Numbers 7, 8 and 10 Albert Parade were built by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board in 1852 to accomidate staff for the Albert and Canning Docks. The houses were hit by an incendiary bomb during the Second World War.
