Chimney piece panel: Shepherd boy with sheep
LL 131
Information
This marble relief panel was originally part of a chimney piece. A chimney piece formed a decorative frame around an open fire, and this panel was the central decoration above the fire. It shows a shepard boy leaning against a tree, his dog to his side is looking up at him. Sheep are shown on the other side of the tree grazing. The panel has been attributed to Henry Cheere (1703 - 1781).
