Dancin’ Thru The Dark, 1990 Originally written as Stags And Hens for Manchester Polytechnic’s television and drama students in 1978, Dancin’ Thru The Dark was the last of Willy Russell’s plays to be adapted for the big screen. This bittersweet story explores female emancipation, working class expectations and limited opportunities in late ‘70s Britain. Russel also wrote several songs for the film, including the title track.
