Design for a frieze showing two scenes set in frames, flanked by three seated figures (figure, frame, figure, frame, figure). The right hand figure is accompanied by a small child. The left hand scene shows a boat with animals going into it [Noah's Ark] and the right hand scene shows the same boat on an expanse of water [the Flood]. The scenes and figures are all set above an architectural feature [architrave] which is ornately designed with garlands and swags. There are tears and losses on both left and right side edges of the paper.
