Information

Dish, saucer-shaped, with everted rim, finely painted in famille verte enamels with gilding, with three martial figures. Three heroes of 'The Water Margin', the popular novel written in the 16th century by Shi Nai'an, are identified by the names on their belts: (left to right) Chai Jin, Song Jiang and Yan Qing. Mark of the Chenghua period (1465-1487 AD), but the dish is of later Kangxi date.
