Doum Palm Fruit

Doum palm fruit (Hyphaene thebaica). Like other examples from New Kingdom tombs this was probably left in the tomb as food for the deceased. The object has a sticker on the side (previous Norwich Castle Museum label). Part of a group of fruits, seeds and nuts collected by Sir James Currie.
