This watercolour painting depicts the designs for two male figures from the play 'Queen Victoria'. An inscription below the figure on the left reads 'Gentleman' and the inscription below the figure on the right reads 'John Brown'. The figure on the left is wearing a green an orange tartan kilt, green and orange tartan socks and a large white sporran with black feathers. They are also depicted with a white shirt, white necktie, white waistcoat and a short black peplum jacket with unbuttoned white buttons. The figure on the right is wearing a green, blue and white tartan kilt, green blue and white tartan socks and a brown sporran. The costume also features a white shirt, white waistcoat, blue necktie and a short grey jacket with unbuttoned white buttons. On their head is a blue beret.
