Information
Rectangular mat composed of twelve lengths of reed tied together with rope. Of the type found in New Kingdom Theban tombs with offerings placed upon them. Frayed and worn. Charles Gatty recorded it as being part of a model boat, perhaps a sail. A note from c. 1940 with the object says "reed mat for beer".
CONDITION NOTE (1998):Rope is coming loose, wood is split and fraying, whitish residue, surface dirt.
