Information
Circular bowl with incised square in centre, punctured. Represents a sieve used to separate liquid from mash in the brewing of beer. Compare to the lids of vats in wooden tomb models of brewing scenes.
One of 28 clay models of tools and vessels found in grave 154E '06. Similar model tools were found by the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology excavations at Abydos in 1907 in grave nos 312, 329, and 360 (see Steven Snape, Mortuary Assemblages from Abydos, 1986, pp. 206, 210 and 221).
