Mould

Small grey mould used for the manufacture of small faience objects in the shape of a leaf. Compare with W M Flinders Petrie, Tell el-Amarna (London, 1894), plate XX, no. 519. A purple paste is visible in the mould cavity. Line impressions on mould perhaps for a wire to be run through the back of the faience amulet so, once removed, it could be threaded onto a string. Irregular flat back to mould.
