Information

Transport improved greatly in the late 19th century. Artists like Cameron were able to visit faraway countries like Egypt. Cameron spent the winter of 1908-9 in Cairo. During his stay he travelled over 400 miles up the river Nile to see the ancient Egyptian temples at Luxor. The silhouette makes a dramatic landscape. The small figure in the centre highlights the vastness of the night sky.
