Northumberland House, Charing Cross

LL 3565

Information

Northumberland House in London, the townhouse of the Dukes of Northumberland, was demolished in 1873 to make room for Northumberland Avenue. Robert Adam created the celebrated Glass Drawing Room here in 1770 - 1775, now re-erected in the Victoria & Albert Museum. Lever acquired this painting without attribution amongst a group of topographical items.
