Information

Ivory disc or lid from a pyxis with engraved decoration. and a small central hole for the handle, with remains of the peg in the centre. The central medalion decoration is of a lozenge formed out of 4 pairs of interlocking volutes or semi spirals, resembling the decoration in the gold bezel rings found in Tomb Evreti 8. The central decoration is enclosed within a border formed by an outer group of three, and an inner of four bands with curved dogtooth in between, forming the tips of the petals of a great flower. The disc is probably the lid of a circular box and many of its fragments are missing. The disc is in several pieces which have been joined together and fixed to a perspex mount. One piece has come loose of the mount. Large parts of the opposite sides are missing.
