Richmond Hill

This view from the crest of Richmond Hill looks west towards Twickenham. It has been suggested that the smoke seen rising on the horizon on the right may be coming from the home of the artist. The paint box, palette and pots of paints in the foreground may also be an additional hint of Turner's presence and attachment to this area, which he had known since childhood.
