People go about their daily business in Walton Vale in the midst of devastation. Although the docks and city centre were the main targets of the May Blitz, residential areas also suffered enormous damage. As a result 51,000 people were made homeless in Liverpool.
“We had to go to the Ministry of Food to get the various ration coupons etc. and all you were allowed was three pounds ten shillings for just bare necessities like underwear because you were just left in what you stood up in”.
