Wooden winnowing scoop for grain. Acquired at the MacGregor auction along with two wooden hoes from Sedment.
CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, splitting, dry, discoloured, label adhered to surface, surface dirt.
Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 15384. Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 26 June - 3 July 1922, Lot 612/3 "a Shovel used for winnowing grain, the wide blade continuing straight along the handle on one side, rare, 14 3/4 in. by 4 7/8 in. wide".
