Growing up in the city: in photographs
images from the Museum of Liverpool's collections showed snapshots of Liverpool children's experiences of growing up over time.
This is part of the Social and Community History collection.
These rarely seen images from the Museum of Liverpool's collections are highlights from an exhibition that was at the museum from 21 October 2015 until 30 August 2017
Whilst many images depict friendships, family, and fun – things we often associate with childhood – others show the different realities of children's lives, such as working to support their families, war-time evacuation and ill health.
When do you think was the best time to grow up? What was your favourite childhood experience?
You can also find out about diverse Liverpool childhoods, today and in the past, in the 'Growing Up and Growing Older' display in The People’s Republic gallery.
