Government funding announced for redevelopment of International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum

Following more than three months of consultation it was announced today that the government funding towards National Museums Liverpool’s redevelopment of International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum will go ahead.

£10 million from government will go towards this transformational project for the two museums on Liverpool’s historic waterfront.

National Museums Liverpool’s Director, Laura Pye said: 

We are delighted that our vision for International Slavery Museum and Liverpool’s Maritime Museum has unlocked this important funding. We are extremely grateful to the supporters and stakeholders who championed the project with their testimonies and endorsements during this review period. We now step into a new year and this next phase with renewed excitement and belief in the potential of these museums to empower, connect and inspire our communities.
