Walker Art Gallery has announced an extension to Chris Day's critically acclaimed installation 'Now you see me' until 19 January 2025. The stunning blown glass and mixed media work, which responds to the gallery's painting 'The Card Party' by Gawen Hamilton, explores themes of visibility and Britain's colonial past through Day's innovative use of glass and copper materials.
Day's installation, presented in collaboration with the Contemporary Art Society, has drawn significant attention for its powerful exploration of identity and historical narratives. Through his signature 'copper cages' encasing blown glass pieces, Day creates quasi-reflective surfaces that invite viewers to consider hidden histories and untold stories.
Originally announced as running until late November 2024, this extension offers visitors an additional two months to experience this thought-provoking installation that connects directly with Liverpool's history and the Walker's permanent collection.
