Evening dress

About this object

Emily Tinne owned several very glamorous evening gowns similar to this one, which seem more appropriate for a Hollywood film star than the wife of a provincial British doctor. Her family thought it unlikely that she ever wore this dress, as she would have considered the low-cut back and lack of sleeves too revealing.
