Lunar New Year at the Lady Lever Art Gallery

The Lady Lever Art Gallery's annual celebration of our gallery's astonishing Chinese collections and Wirral's Chinese community returns for the year of the snake.  

Our fun day of festivities will include the following

  • 11am and 12 noon: find out all about the Lunar New Year and the legend of the Zodiac Race with Billy Hui, presenter of BBC Radio Merseyside's OrIent Express.

  • 1, 2 and 3pm: watch the spectacular Lion and Dragon dance with Liverpool Hung Gar Kung Fu. Our Lion dance starts outside the main entrance of our gallery and continues into our main hall for a 30 minute performance.

  • 1-4pm: make a Chinese New Year card to wish happiness and prosperity to your friends and family for the new year and join in with our crafts for the year of the snake.

  • 3.45pm: watch beautiful dances in traditional dress from the Wirral Chinese Cultural Association dance group.
