Artist in conversation: Ben Youdan
No current dates available
Local artist Ben Youdan was commissioned to create a portrait of the iconic Holly Johnson for the exhibition at Museum of Liverpool telling the story of his life. Like Holly, Ben plays with the iconography of queer fetish scenes in his art, unapologetically celebrating queer culture. His mixed media work employs a wide variety of techniques and processes including collage, drawing, painting, printmaking and photography, to create imagery that takes inspiration from the iconography and ephemera of popular culture. His pieces explore themes such as identity, glamour and sexuality.
In this candid in-conversation event Ben will talk about his life, his work, and his influences in a frank and insightful way. The audience will be able to ask him questions about what he does and why and then, together, we will view the portrait of Holly Johnson that Ben created. Here he will speak more about what it meant to create this artwork.
Tickets are £12 and include access to the in-conversation event and access to The Holly Johnson Story exhibition.
