A global city: connections, reflections and exceptions

Through a series of events, the Museum of Liverpool is looking to explore what makes Liverpool a ‘global city’ and how its history and culture have been shaped by, and continue to influence, the world around it.

Liverpool’s architecture tells the story of the city’s economic, social, and cultural development over the centuries.

Please join us for our next panel discussion which explores the historical significance of Liverpool’s buildings as a port city and the international connections of the Liverpool School of Architecture. Our panel will be:

  • Joseph Sharples, Curator of Mackintosh and Applied Art and Design Collections at the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery. He is author of the Liverpool Pevsner Architectural Guide and Built on Commerce: Liverpool's Central Business District.
  • Liz Stewart, Head of the Museum of Liverpool. A buildings archaeologist, Liz is author of Courts and Alleys: A History of Liverpool Courtyard Housing.
  • Nasra Elliott, Community Engagement Manager at the International Slavery Museum. An independent researcher who delivers historical walking tours.

This is a free event but places are limited so please book your ticket below.
