Landscape, Memory and Colonialism: A Walk Through The Past with Kemi Onabulé and Edwin Coomasaru
No current dates available

In this walk-through, Kemi Onabulé (artist featured in our Conversations exhibition) and Edwin Coomasaru (art historian and writer) will explore the collection of the Walker Art Gallery and how landscape painting, and in some cases still life, has been used to describe Britain's history of colonialism both at home and abroad, and the visual languages used to display the wealth extracted from colonised lands. We will discuss how this has created the British understanding of itself as a modern landscape, and myths vs reality.
This is a special event as part of our Conversations programme, so don't miss your chance to meet one of the artists and discuss these important themes.
This is a free, drop in event and is recommended for ages 16+.
