The Community Codex Workshop, held at the World Museum in Liverpool, offers an interactive and collaborative experience centred around the Codex Fejérváry-Mayer, an ancient Mesoamerican manuscript housed at the museum.

This workshop invites participants to delve into the rich traditions of Mesoamerican culture by exploring and reinterpreting this significant codex through the modern medium of comic books.

Using comics and decolonial methodologies, participants will contribute to the creation of a modern-day codex, inspired by the historical symbols, narratives, and artistic techniques found in the original manuscript.

The workshop aims to foster a sense of community through shared storytelling and collective creativity, while emphasising the importance of preserving and reimagining indigenous knowledge systems within our everyday life.

Join us to gain a deeper understanding of Mesoamerican visual culture and actively engage with the legacy of the Codex Fejérváry-Mayer, and help create a living, evolving document that connects the past with the present and the future.
