Microscope Week: Clore under the Microscope
No current dates available

Get (really, really) close to our collections as we celebrate the marvellous Microscope on the 12th of April 2025.
Join us in the Clore Natural History Exploration space (on Level 2) from 10:30 – 3:30, as we discover the microscopic world around us and celebrate 400 years of the word ‘Microscope’!
Collect a ticket from the desk or book online on the day for entry into our Clore exploration space
We will be joined by members of Manchester Microscopical Society who will be on hand to answer questions and show you their favourite specimens.
2025 is a special year: although the first microscope was invented in 1590 (probably by father and son duo Hans and Zacharias Jannsen) it was not until 400 years ago, in 1625, that the word ‘Microscope’ was first used by Giovanni Faber.
Come along and see what hidden wonders are lurking all around!
